Movie Review: The Huntsman: Winter's War

Movie Details:
Title: The Huntsman: Winter's War
Release Date: 22nd April 216
Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Jessica Chasten
Rating: 3/5

Although some critics did not like the movie, I personally LOVED it. Even my friend was a bit hesitant to go and watch it but she too enjoyed the movie very much. This movie is described as prequel as well as a sequel as it tells you what happened to Ravenna before Snow White and after it as well. The most surprising part for me was probably Freya, not only is she the evil queen's sister but I didn't see how her role would be played in to the movie.

NOTE: Before I continue, I probably should have watched the first movie before watching this one but I didn't. I personally didn't see the need for it.

The story telling part of this movie, I felt like it did very good job. Not only were they on the roll but they pace is not what I would call slow, lets just say you couldn't afford to even miss one second of the movie.

Chris and Jessica's character is not what I expected, more so from Jessica's. She was a badass who kicked some serious butt in this movie, the stunts were simply amazing; she may even saved her lover's life more than once. But her shooting an arrow is shown to be impeccable in the movie, she literally never misses! Chris, on the other hand, very well played his character, I loved his determination to succeed even when it all seemed to be lost and his stunt scenes were amazing too but I personally enjoyed seeing a woman have more the limelight for once. Charlize and Emily were absolutely amazing onscreen, I didn't realise how much of a good actress Charlize is, all her evilness made me want to poke her eyes out.

Oh and the dwarves, oh my they were so hilarious especially the women. LIKE AMAZING!!!!

The CGI and graphics is what sold me the movie the most, I mean have you seen it? Although the goblins looked ugly I did think the artists/creators really outdid themselves with this movie.

Have you seen this movie? What did you most like about this movie? Did you have any not so favourite parts? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time!

ARC Review: Kisses on a Paper Airplane

Title: Kisses on a Paper Airplane
Author: Sarah Vance-Tompkins
Published: 14th May 2016
My Rating: 4/5
Recommend: Yes

Drama student Hannah Evans isn't kissing any frogs on her path to find Prince Charming. She's determined to share the perfect first kiss -- with the perfect boy -- in the perfect place -- or she's not kissing anyone at all. When Hannah meets a cute ginger-haired boy in first class lounge in the London airport, she knows he's 'The One.'

Pop star Theo Callahan is on the road to get as far away as possible from his back-stabbing best friend, and his supermodel girlfriend who broke his heart. Until one shy smile from Hannah has him rethinking all of his travel plans.

Theo is smitten, but he's worried she's just a groupie in search of the ultimate selfie. Can Theo learn to trust Hannah in time to share one perfect first kiss, or will Hannah be forced to kiss a frog?

I received this book free in an exchange for an honest review

This book was a short good read (see what I did there with the 'good read'?? Awesome, right? I know!;)

Both Hannah and Theo were very relatable, I feel like sometimes we forget that famous people and celebs are people too. It was a good reminder to see them as people with fears and insecurities just like anyone. Hannah is a shy, timid, introvert who avoids any unnecessary contact with any human, she loves to blend in which is quite ironic since she is studying drama and drama is all about being in the limelight. She is just like any other teen who faces insecurities and self doubt about her ambitions and what she wants to do with her life. Theo, just like Hannah is also insecure, geeky, polite and fun loving lyricist. I love how despite being a huge pop sensation he is still pretty much grounded who doubts himself now and again. I loved how Sarah made things light and pure between them, but most of all, I liked how Hannah despite wanting to tell lies (and she does) owns up to her mistakes and tries to be very honest, it is very hard for someone to confess their mistake to someone. That was a very brave thing for her to do. Theo is just a delight to read and puts every guy to shame, we need more guys like Theo in this world. I want my 'frog' now *cries insanely*

Majority of the scenes are at the airport, I feel like both Hannah and Theo have just spent their entire lives there. But it was something different, the scenes weren't love at first sight or a guy trying to coax a girl in to her panties. It was something simple and pure and I LOVED that. I am a little disappointed that it was a short book, I was hoping there was more.

I also liked how they portrayed the step dad in a positive light, Jeffrey is a real sweetheart who deserves happiness in his life. I feel this is stretched out too much sometimes, hey not every step dad is the worst enemy.

Beyond the Stars

Title: Beyond the Stars
Author: Stacy Wise
Published: 8th February 2016
My Rating: 4/5
Recommend: Yes

Falling for him wasn't in the plans...

Most girls would kill for the opportunity to work for Jack McAlister, Hollywood's hottest actor, but twenty-one-year-old Jessica Beckett is ready to kick him out of her red Ford Fiesta and never look back. She should be spending her junior year in France, eating pastries and sharpening her foreign language skills. Instead she's reluctantly working as Jack's personal assistant, thanks to her powerhouse talent agent aunt.

Jack is private, prickly, and downright condescending. Jessica pushes his buttons—she's not the type of girl to swoon over celebrity heartthrobs, precisely why her aunt thought she'd be perfect for the job—and Jack pushes right back.

But as she begins to peel away his layers, Jessica is shocked to find she craves her boss's easy smile and sexy blue eyes. The problem is, so does the entire female population. And what started out as the job from hell soon has Jess wondering if a guy like Jack could ever find love with a regular girl like her.

This another Chick Lit I am loving this month! And the cover is so beautiful, after seeing the cover I knew I had to buy the book and now I cannot stop staring at it.

Jess is assigned as Jack's PA instead of going to France to fulfil her dreams, she becomes sick and her world is turned upside down. Enters the superstar Jack. Worlds come crashing together like a titanic bomb.

Jack and Jess are both world's apart, there is only thing connecting them; Jess's Aunt and Jack's agent. It then begins, Jess trying not to bite Jack's head off, Jack being an absolute jerk who needs a good slap but underneath all of that you find Jack is really lonely and vulnerable. The theme portrayed here vulnerability is an important lesson, sometimes we are too wrapped in our own world trying to achieve our dreams that we are quick to judge another when in reality those people are the ones who need compassion the most. Also, this serves as a lesson that being a famous celebrity is not as easy as we sometimes might think it is, there is a lot of HARDWORK being put in behind the scenes normally this is all down to team work (there is no 'I' in team, sorry I could not help that ;D). And most of the time we forget these are REAL people who love what they do and their fans but they like us sometimes just want to hang out without being harassed by the papparazi. I don't like those people who think that just because these people are famous they have the right to pry in to their personal lives and then manipulate them. Then we wonder why sometimes these very same people are rude, do you blame them?

The plot was very straightforward, a non fan meeting a superstar and falling in love. I love that it was light heart book and not much time was wasted when it came down to admitting their feelings, they got on with it and like a real couple they fought for their love. I have one complain though, I wish it was longer. I want more Jack and Jess!!!

Happy reading!

Act Like It

Title: Act Like It
Author: Lucy Parker
Published: 30th November 2015
My Rating: 5/5
Recommend: Yes

This just in: romance takes center stage as West End theatre's Richard Troy steps out with none other than castmate Elaine Graham

Richard Troy used to be the hottest actor in London, but the only thing firing up lately is his temper. We all love to love a bad boy, but Richard's antics have made him Enemy Number One, breaking the hearts of fans across the city.

Have the tides turned? Has English rose Lainie Graham made him into a new man?

Sources say the mismatched pair has been spotted at multiple events, arm in arm and hip to hip. From fits of jealousy to longing looks and heated whispers, onlookers are stunned by this blooming romance.

Could the rumors be right? Could this unlikely romance be the real thing? Or are these gifted stage actors playing us all?

There is no way to say how much I LOVED this book, it's very rare I read a Chick Lit which I instantly fall in love. This is a reminder why I love them so much!

This book was full of surprises with the characters and plot, but most of all what I did not expect was Richard! Damn! He is hot! Not just in terms with personality but attitude, behaviour and oh his words! He made me fall in love with theatre for the very first time, I always thought theatre was boring but oh sweet worlds! His lines in this book, any girl would fall at his feet.

This book was not so much about character development as it was about two opposites in the same career falling in love, and it wasn't love at first. This was the typical spending time and falling in love. It was so much more than falling in love, with all the humour and drama that is involved, Lainie and Richard are my favourite; Will is my least favourite. What I hate most about him was his pride and how because of it he acted arrogant, he acts like the world is revolved around him but I guess he needs a wake up call. The bicker between Will and Richard is insanely awesome and I loved every minute of it. Honestly, the romance, humour mixed in with the drama and suspense made the perfect combination for a chick lit.

This was the first time for me reading a book in this style, it was a exhilarating experience. I loved the drama and literature reference, it made the book so much more enjoyable to read in my opinion (it acted as a romance dialogue between the two actors) *sighs* I wish I could meet someone like that.

You know the problem now? Now I want a book like that, that will make me feel all giddy, happy and laugh at the same time. It is a truly a remarkable book and I definitely recommend it to all the Chick Lit readers out there.

Royal Holiday #1

Title: The Cinderella Princess
Author: Melissa McClone
Published: 2nd April 2015
My Rating: 4/5
Recommend: Yes

Thanks to a philandering father, ad exec Emily Rodgers knows happily ever after doesn’t exist. Relying on a man only leads to heartache. She takes care of herself, and work defines her life. But Emily soon finds herself in the hands of a real-life prince who defines the words charming and sexy. Not to mention reckless. If Prince Lucas doesn’t find a royal bride, Emily’s dream of being named a partner at the advertising firm will die.

Luc’s fun-loving ways have made him a magnet for scandal. His father gives Luc an ultimatum—find a wife on a reality TV show or be disowned. Rules require him to marry nobility, but after he meets the uptight American sent to find him find a princess bride, his search for Cinderella might be over. Too bad Emily wants nothing to do with him. Perhaps he can show her that fairytale endings can happen in real life…

I received this book free in an exchange for an honest review

I cannot believe this book! It was sooooo good! LUC is so HOT! And his first meeting with Emily had me in stitches, I cannot believe his audacity good to know the Prince is so sure of himself! XD
Emily handled the situation quite well being in that position, but honestly even as I am writing this review I am tempted to go back and read the scene again! I loved it that much!!!!! :DDDD

Luc is every bit of fun laid-back, confident whilst Emily is a no fun, business like, stoic and professional at all times. It was good to see her loosen up as time went on and the more time she spent with Luc. Luc is given an ultimatum by his father and Emily enters to help him get a wife. I find this quite odd really, a Prince having a reality tv show to find a wife you would think the prince is never short of proposals.

Again, Prince Luc never fails to deliver humour with his audacity and behaviour. I really LOVE Luc, if he was real I would marry him for myself than Emily. That is not the only reason I fell in love with book, I liked the part how love always prevails (it never comes without consequences).

If you want a sweet, romantic, fun loving short story then look no further this is the book for you!

Those Girls

Title: Those Girls
Author: Lauren Saft
Published: 9th June 2015
My Rating: 3/5
Recommend: Yes/No

Some girls will always have your back, and some girls can't help but stab you in it.

Junior year, the suburbs of Philadelphia. Alex, Mollie and Veronica are those girls: they're the best of friends and the party girls of the school. But how well does everybody know them--and really, how well do they know one another? Alex is secretly in love with the boy next door and has joined a band--without telling anyone. Mollie suffers from a popular (and possibly sociopathic) boyfriend, as well as a serious mean streak. And Veronica just wants to be loved--literally, figuratively, physically....she's not particular. Will this be the year that bonds them forever....or tears them apart for good?

Lauren Saft masterfully conveys what goes on in the mind of a teenage girl, and her debut novel is raw, honest, hilarious, and thought-provoking, with a healthy dose of heart.

I received this free in an exchange for an honest review

I am not sure what to think of this book to be honest. Alex, Mollie and Veronica are best friends or more like appear to be but someone is jealous or envious of one another for some reason. If it is not that then either one of them are complaining about something and normally its against one another. Mollie starves herself because she has some of kind eating disorder and is jealous of how Veronica is always looking pefect and flirting with every guy she meets, she basically calls her 'slut' and 'whore' like what??? Alex is fed up with everything and joins a band without telling anyone, both Mollie and Veronica are shocked, they shrug it off first thinking she is not serious. Vernoica always feel abandoned after the summer holidays feeling like she always has prove herself all over again.

I really don't understand what each of these girls problems are, like why don't they just tell each other the truth? I feel like whatever they say its just a lie and their friendship is set on lies, lies, lies and more lies. Eventually when they do, it is a total chaos and more misunderstandings take place. Like seriously? I don't even want to think this is what is happening at schools currently. I suppose it was a good read in terms of morality and how one should treat their friends. Glad they could sort everything out in the end.

Girl Against The Universe BOOK BLAST + GIVEAWAY!

I am beyond excited, the GATU will be released very soon!! It's party time!!!

So I have a present for you, plus a giveaway at the bottom so stay tuned! :)

Here is what the author had to say about GATU:

Paula: Girl Against the Universe will release on May 16, 2016. I am so excited to share this book with the world, and particularly with people who are struggling with PTSD, survivor’s guilt, anxiety, shyness, or people who just feel like the odds are stacked against them. Maguire’s story is full of struggles and triumphs, new friends and family bonds. Even if your life is totally peachy at the moment, there’s a good chance you’ll find Girl Against the Universe funny and inspiring. I hope you give it a try.

The book? Patience is a virtue

Maguire is bad luck.

No matter how many charms she buys off the internet or good luck rituals she performs each morning, horrible things happen when Maguire is around. Like that time the rollercoaster jumped off its tracks. Or the time the house next door caught on fire. Or that time her brother, father, and uncle were all killed in a car crash—and Maguire walked away with barely a scratch.

It’s safest for Maguire to hide out in her room, where she can cause less damage and avoid meeting new people who she could hurt. But then she meets Jordy, an aspiring tennis star. Jordy is confident, talented, and lucky, and he’s convinced he can help Maguire break her unlucky streak. Maguire knows that the best thing she can do for Jordy is to stay away. But it turns out staying away is harder than she thought.

Just for fun, here’s my idea of the book in a single word:
