Cover Reveal: A Bond of Venom and Magic

Hello fellow bookworms,

I have an exciting cover reveal today, when I first looked at this cover I will admit I wasn't at all grasped by the clutches, but the more I look at it the more I am captivated.

Without further ado..let's get to it

Add it to your TBR list:

AMAZING right? What I love most about this would have to be the title. Look at it,  A Bond of Venom and Magic, this immediately gives me the chills. Do you want to know more? Check the synopsis below:

The Wraith Lord is hunting; his prize, the key to unleashing darkness and Chaos upon the eight Kingdoms. For Diamond Gillon the war raging in the south seems a remote danger until her home is brutally attacked. Having lost everything she holds dear, Diamond is catapulted into a terrifying new world in which legendary beasts arise, magic is condemned and half blood fae, like her, have no rights. Despite her growing feelings for her saviour, Commander Hugo Casimir, he remains a paradox – not only is he a heartless killer, he is owned by the cruel immortal fae queen; a queen who will murder her own people for magic. As Diamond’s circumstances become ever more perilous she is drawn deeper into Hugo’s world and discovers the lengths to which he will go to save what he holds dear. Will Hugo become her friend, her protector, or – an enemy not worthy of her trust? A Bond of Venom and Magic is a tale of two people bound by magic and secrets, but trapped in the complexities of love and betrayal. It is the beginning of an epic journey, one that will test Diamond’s resolve and determination to battle an evil that threatens not only her world but that of Eternity, the land of The Guardians and The Goddess.
It releases on 14th October 2016, mark your calendars!

ARC Review: Crystal Crowned

Is this awesome or what?? ^_^

Title: Crystal Crowned
Author: Elise Kova
Published: 12th July 2016
My Rating: 5/5
Recommend: Yes

Long live Solaris.

One bloodthirsty ruler has been overthrown by another, casting the shadow of death over the Solaris Empire. Vhalla Yarl stands upon the stage of fate, prepared to do battle one final time. Fragile alliances will be tested and new bonds will be formed as the world is reshaped. She fights as the champion of peace, but when the night is darkest will she be able to pay the price of a new dawn?

About the Author

Elise Kova has always had a profound love of fantastical worlds. Somehow, she managed to focus on the “real world” long enough to graduate with a Master’s in Business Administration before crawling back under her favorite writing blanket to conceptualize her next magic system. She currently lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, and when she’s not writing can be found playing video games, watching anime, or talking with readers on social media. She is the author of the Air Awakens Series as well as the upcoming Loom Saga

I received an arc from the author in exchange for an honest review

OH MY GOSH! It has finally ended. Can you believe it? I read this book a while ago, but I am unsure and still am on how to proceed with the information that this series has finally finished. I don't want it to go. I want to know what happens to Jax, Elecia, Daniel, Fritz, Graham and so many more. How do I go on?

This book picks from exactly where it left off, Vhalla and Aldrik need to save their people, reaffirm the faith in their people, bring hope and peace and finally end the war. In amidst all of this, can Vhalla and Aldrik's love survive? Or will they have to give the biggest sacrifice of them all? I think this is my favourite book in all of the series, it is really hard to pinpoint why exactly but there are so many things I loved about this book.

I loved seeing Vhalla take more of a leadership role in this book in most things, she took the reins of what she thought was best and faced every obstacle head on. Her love and support from Aldrik is what I would have loved to see at the start of the book but I am glad to see it finally did happen. Aldrik finally had the happiness he deserved and didn't shy from it either. Ohh their love? It is absolutely to die for!

The theme for this book was simple: hope. Hope is the very fibre the world lives in, without it the world would be in chaos. I loved how this theme was consistent through everything, there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Just like for Vhalla it is very hard sometimes to see the positive when times are hard, even more harder to have faith in things will get better. But it does make it easier by having a supportive team behind you, and someone who you can be yourself with.

Oh wow, the plot in this book was even more swoon worthy than the first four. I feel like this book has a perfect combination of everything; action; romance; love; kisses; fight; war; humour; tension. I do mean LITERALLY EVERYTHING! My heart was breaking every page I turned, I was on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what awaits next. The flow of this storyline was perfect, each emotion was established flawlessly. Just like every brush stroke painted beautifully.

It's hard to say on the character development, specifically in this book because the characters have grown in every page of the book from the beginning, and me as a reader has changed with every word written in the book. There has been significant development for Vhalla and Aldrik since the beginning, and it has been a delight to read them, as much as I hate saying goodbye to the characters. I loved how they turned out, they are beautiful and will always be.

Let Me Fly Free

Title: Let Me Fly Free
Author: Mary Fan
Series: Fated Stars #4
Release Date: 5th July 2016

Fire fears nothing. And Elaia is about to show her world that she doesn’t, either.

Like the rest of her kind, fire nymph Elaia is bound to her homeland, a forest whose borders were closed centuries earlier in a peace agreement between the humans and the enchanted creatures of the Terrestrial Realm.

But her heart is as restless as the flames she casts, and she secretly yearns to defy that order.

When a mysterious threat creeps into the forest, an invisible beast that leaves a trail of death in its wake, Elaia is determined to fight back and protect her people. But first she must learn what the beast is … and the answers lie beyond the borders of her land.

Defeating this evil means she’ll have to go outside the rules, but she’ll do anything to find the answers she seeks—even if leaving her homeland means not only breaking the law, but risking her own life.

I received a copy of this book in an exchange for an honest review, thanks to Glass House Press

I am in turmoil on how to feel about this book, on one hand I am fantasy lover and I love this type of genre, on the other, I am in doubt on how to feel about Elaia.

Elaia is a fire nymph, trapped between the borders of Kristakai, longs to explore what's out there. Her powers are limited and created from unicorn magic. Cyim, her Terrine Father, is one of the seven unicorns who has celestial powers and is immortal. Guardians of the Kristakai realm, a new threat lurks, killing innocent civilians right under their noses. No one seems to know what it is and Elaia is determined to find out.

The plot of this short novella, was definitely interesting. The whole celestial magic, each magical being linked to one of the unicorns is a very interesting concept. I am loving the unicorns being majestic, immortal magical creatures, not just parents but act as guardians and protectors too with infinite knowledge and wisdom. Since this is a short novella, there is a lot of discovering and exploration that can be made. The author can dive in to so many things, make up so many magical mythical creatures.

One thing that annoyed me the most was how impulsive, selfish and manipulative Elaia really is. She just seemed to fake everything, I hate the way she wanted to look down on everyone and made them seem as inferior. Her interaction with the human, I wanted to just slap some sense in to her. How could she act so selfish even if she thought she was doing it for the right reasons? When she clearly was not. Oh and Kiri, she just uses her to her own advantage and likes to play with her emotions. I hate how she always describes Kiri as so weak and thinks nothing of her. Like its Kiri's mission to just keep Elaia happy. Sorry ranting now, I appreciate she wants to keep everyone safe even though she has no need to, wants to explore places, do things that she is forbidden do. That kind of curiosity I can understand but does she need to act so ruthless?

Cyim is once character I did enjoy, but it was too short to my liking. I really hope I get to know more about him and other unicorns. There is certainly will be more action to come since it hints the end of the world, I am interested to know what will happen in the Age of Fire.

The writing was very well written, not sure if this book acts as a introductory to the whole series but it does have numerous areas where it can be explored. I fell in love with how the world was depicted, I felt like I was there the whole time.

Happy reading!
