Synopsis:

In this modern day spin on Leroux’s gothic tale of unrequited love turned to madness, seventeen-year-old Rune Germain has a mysterious affliction linked to her operatic talent, and a horrifying mistake she’s trying to hide. Hoping creative direction will help her, Rune’s mother sends her to a French arts conservatory for her senior year, located in an opera house rumored to have ties to The Phantom of the Opera.

At RoseBlood, Rune secretly befriends the masked Thorn—an elusive violinist who not only guides her musical transformation through dreams that seem more real than reality itself, but somehow knows who she is behind her own masks. As the two discover an otherworldly connection and a soul-deep romance blossoms, Thorn’s dark agenda comes to light and he’s forced to make a deadly choice: lead Rune to her destruction, or face the wrath of the phantom who has haunted the opera house for a century, and is the only father he’s ever known

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review, thank you to Abrams for sending me the copy. I love you guys for this <3!

This was insanely freakingly AWESOME!!!

GUYS I am having too much of a #feelsplosion moment, my emotions are all over the place. HOW DO I EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS PHANTOM RETELLING. I can't seem to remember if I already knew about the phantom although I have a vague recollection I do (maybe I hit my head somewhere a couple of years ago and I have amnesia without me even knowing? I have some weird memories that came back to me from time to time!).

Rune who has this problem of singing and this isn't your ordinary singing, it is one where she is compelled to sing, a song literally wants to be sung by her vocal chords! . Because of her recent incident which no one knows about what really happened except for her, her mother is intent on sending to her a boarding school in Paris! PARIS!???? If only I had a mother like that who would send me to a boarding school in the city of love! What can be better than that? Also, the new boarding school was once a Opera House----->turned boarding school called Roseblood .

Thorn who won my heart straight away with his intense thoughts and hiding away behind the mask, just like the phantom. He is not the phantom but...wait for it...THE SON OF THE PHANTOM!! Can you believe that? Although at first I was surprised it was dual POV I actually had no idea, but as soon as I started reading this book the more it hooked me, the more I was starving for Thorn's words I wanted to know what was happening inside his head, what was he thinking? I was gripped whenever his voice poured out from the book.

Rune and Thorn's relationship began when they were 7 years old, coming to each other's dream, comforting one another and sharing a similar fate of losing a loved one. I absolutely adored this pairing and this has so far been one of my favourite couple of 2017! I was so ready for them to become a couple, sadly when that does happen the book is finished (YOU CANNOT DO THIS TO ME, I NEED MORE #TUNE #ETUNE I NEED MORE OF THEM! I WANTED MORE BANTER, MORE FUNNY SCENES!! HOW DO I GO ON NOW AFTER FINDING OUT THIS IS A STANDALONE NOVEL??)

I feel like this Pikachu, unable to move forward. My life has lost all its meaning.

On the other hand, thanks to the lovely author she kindly directed me to her playlist which you can find here and her Pinterest board here.

oh yeah how did I forget about the phantom? Well he is kind of an enigma, very mysterious with several shades of grey. Although I did love learning about his history too (the little we did learn about him and Christina). I wanted to know more though, were told he is very cunning, devious, manipulative, yet he never harms animals, he is very gentle and kind to them. In my eyes, I was attracted to his persona, all he wanted was love. I hate to admit I cried a little when I heard about his early life (how could his own mother hate him? I am becoming very emotional these days, crying over silly little things! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??)

I loved, loved, loved this author's writing. I cannot wait to read more of her books! If you haven't read this book then what are you waiting for!! Go and do it now! Excuse me while go in the corner and cry my heart out!!
