Fire Falling is the second book in the Air Awakens Series.
This. Incinerated. Me.
OHMYGOSH!!!!! How could something be so awesome and make me want to jump in a whole at the same time??? Is that humanly even possible??? Well seems as if Elise Kova can do that exact thing.
This picks up exactly from where it left off, war is happening and Vhalla is a pawn for the king for his heinous, devilish greed for power. And he seems to think Vhalla is the answer to his problems. If you think the first book was about to kill you off from the emotional rollercoaster, then think again my friend.
This book was so much better than the first in some essence, but then I think I will always fall in love with the first book, both Aldrik and Vhalla have changed so much. Vhalla from being so innocent, naive, childish to someone grown up with incredible strength, power, fighting for her love with the weight of winning the war on her shoulders. She is what I would call a true soldier. Aldrik, on the other hand goes from being so stoic, hard, fire lord, cold hearted (not necessarily, he is compelled to show no emotions) to someone who is sweet, generous, fun and loving. I think its clear the more I try to praise Aldrik it will never not be enough. Vhalla has created a soft spot inside Aldrik's heart so much that he sees it as a natural instinct to assassinate those who wish harm to his love, his lady, his Vhalla. I really enjoyed seeing this side of Aldrik, could it be possible to fall more in love with the fire prince then I already have??
Alongside Aldrik and Vhalla, Larel, Fritz, Prince Baldair and the Golden guards also go through character development. I loved how everything was separated into segments, what I mean is there would be scenes with Larel and Fritz then Prince Baldair and Golden guards. I loved that, it made it so much easier to learn about individually and collectively. There is so much more to these characters, especially with Larel and Prince Baldair and Daniel. I honestly can't say which one I enjoyed more, although my fire lord will always be my favourite ;). I enjoyed learning more about Larel and Fritz so much, I especially loved their bickering it was so hilarious! Fritz is so awesome, he gave the book a comical feel which was a good breakdown from the suspense, suppressed feelings and romance. I don't want to give too much away, but I was very heartbroken. I cannot believe it, I did not expect that person to die :'( why Elise??? Why???
My emotions were so pent up with that one moment for them to kiss. AND GUESS WHAT!!! They finally did! It only took them a whole millennia to do it!
A fantastic book, I recommend you read this book, you will not regret it.
Yet another tbr.
